Thoughts after week one
I now have an internet connection set up in my apartment!
I have been here a little more than a week. The people whom I have met have been just wonderful and the arrangement with the university is better than I expected. I have met some of the locals who either teach or are students and they have been a great help in assisting with my transition. My apartment is located within a ten to twenty-minute walk of anything that I need. The city has numerous modern elements to it, but also has a slight leaning towards a very industrial city with all of its effects.
Many of you will be pleased to know, others may not, that there are two Wal-Marts here! I have checked one of them out and it's pretty much the same as in the States, except for a twist to the local flavor.
I start classes on Monday and will be team-teaching with a fellow American here at the medical college. I met some of the students, who are the equivalent of TA's, already at a meeting and am looking forward to getting into the swing of classes.
